Ever deal with that frustrating “tacky” feeling on a print? You know the one. The surface looks okay, but the ink is still soft, or worse, the bottom layer didn’t cure at all because the pigments blocked the light. Standard mercury lamps are great, but they have a limit. When you’re working with thick ink or heavy pigments, the light just can’t punch through. That’s where Gallium Iodide (GaI) comes in. Basically, we shift the light spectrum to hit that 300nm to 400nm sweet spot. It gives the UV light more “muscle” to dive deeper into the substrate. The secret is in the doping.
