Your teeth feel tight, your gums ache, and everything just feels&amp;hellip; pressurized.&#xA;Here is what&amp;rsquo;s actually happening. When we move your teeth, we&amp;rsquo;re putting pressure on the ligaments holding them in place. This messes with the blood flow in those tiny vessels, leading to inflammation. That’s where the pain comes from.&#xA;To fix this, we bring in the infrared (IR) lamps.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;How it actually works&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;Think of it as a deep-tissue massage for your gums. The infrared light sinks past the surface and warms up the blood vessels underneath.&#xA;This opens things up. It clears out those little blockages and lets fresh, oxygen-rich blood flow back in. It flushes out the stuff causing the inflammation, which takes the edge off that &amp;ldquo;tight&amp;rdquo; feeling. It&amp;rsquo;s a huge relief for the patient.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;The gear we use&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;We don&amp;rsquo;t just use any light. We use near-infrared (NIR) lamps.&#xA;The trick is getting the wattage just right. It needs to be strong enough to reach the gums, but gentle enough that it doesn&amp;rsquo;t burn the sensitive skin inside your mouth. We keep the intensity low and controlled. Plus, the lamps are small, so you can just keep your mouth slightly open while we aim the beam at the spot that hurts most.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Walking the tightrope&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;You might think, &amp;ldquo;Why not just crank up the heat to make it work faster?&amp;rdquo;&#xA;Well, that&amp;rsquo;s a bad idea. Too much heat can actually damage the tissue or, even worse, melt the glue holding the brackets on.&#xA;It’s a balancing act. We have to be careful with how close the lamp is and how long we leave it on. If the timer is off or the lamp is too close, someone gets burned. That&amp;rsquo;s why we use pulsed delivery or keep a very strict distance.&#xA;It keeps the temperature in that &amp;ldquo;sweet spot&amp;rdquo;—warm enough to help, but safe enough that you&amp;rsquo;re just relaxing in the chair.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
