It feels nice on the skin, sure, but it doesn&amp;rsquo;t actually reach the spot where the trouble is. To really get into those stubborn masticatory muscles, you need infrared (IR) wavelengths.&#xA;If you want to stop those spasms in the masseter and temporal muscles, you have to go deeper.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;How it actually works&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;Think of it as waking up the tissue. IR heating kicks the molecules in the deep tissue into gear, which warms up the joint capsule and the ligaments around it.&#xA;Once that heat hits, your blood vessels open up. More blood flows into the joint, which helps clear out the gunk causing inflammation and lets the muscle fibers finally let go. It’s a straightforward way to ease that mechanical tension that makes a patient&amp;rsquo;s jaw lock up or click every time they open their mouth.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;Using it in the clinic&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;We’ve designed these units to be precise. You aren&amp;rsquo;t trying to warm up the patient&amp;rsquo;s entire face—that would be overkill. You want to hit the preauricular area, right where the joint space is.&#xA;The lamps are calibrated to keep the heat steady so you don&amp;rsquo;t have to worry about burns. But you still need to keep an eye on things. If the lamp is too close, you&amp;rsquo;ll see redness on the skin. Too far, and you&amp;rsquo;re back to square one with no deep-tissue effect. It&amp;rsquo;s all about finding that sweet spot.&#xA;&lt;strong&gt;The reality check&lt;/strong&gt;&#xA;Now, IR therapy is a great first move because it&amp;rsquo;s non-invasive. Nobody likes needles or surgery if they can avoid it.&#xA;But it isn&amp;rsquo;t a magic wand. If a patient has a disc that&amp;rsquo;s seriously out of place, heat will help them feel better and relax their muscles, but it won&amp;rsquo;t physically move the joint back where it belongs. That&amp;rsquo;s why we suggest pairing the IR treatment with a splint or some manual mobilization to actually fix the problem.&#xA;One last tip: make sure these units are plugged into a stable power source. You don&amp;rsquo;t want the heat flickering. It&amp;rsquo;s distracting for the patient and makes the treatment inconsistent.&lt;/p&gt;</description>
