The Power and the Heat
Here’s the thing about the gallium halide fill: it hits a different part of the UV spectrum than your run-of-the-mill mercury lamps. When we talk about wattage and voltage, we’re really talking about how dense that plasma is inside the tube. Now, cranking up the wattage gives you a massive flood of photons, which is great for speed. But there’s a catch. More power means more heat. If your housing doesn’t have plenty of airflow, you’re risking a nightmare scenario where the quartz softens or your electrodes just fry.Keep them cool, and they’ll last.
The Glass and the Fit
We use high-purity fused quartz because we don’t want the glass soaking up the UV light we’re trying to push out. If you’re dealing with a corrosive environment, just let us know. We can beef up the envelope thickness to handle the stress. We also make sure the end-caps and pins fit your existing fixtures perfectly. Why? Because a loose electrical contact is a recipe for disaster. It creates a hot spot that can crack the seal in a heartbeat. We machine our electrodes with precision so you don’t have to worry about that.
